隨著(zhù)PE管道在天然氣及供水行業(yè)的進(jìn)一步普及，燃氣中/低壓管網(wǎng)由PE管逐步取代鋼管及鑄鐵管；由于PE管不導電，不導磁，無(wú)法對PE管進(jìn)行示蹤，給日后的管道維修帶來(lái)不便，因此示蹤線(xiàn)也隨之出現。目前市場(chǎng)上常用的“示蹤線(xiàn)”有銅包鋼材質(zhì)示蹤線(xiàn)，薄膜鋼絲壓制示蹤線(xiàn)，電線(xiàn)示蹤線(xiàn)。

示蹤線(xiàn)的發(fā)展已經(jīng)歷三代：

1.第一代示蹤線(xiàn)：是由鋁箔和塑料薄膜的母體組成，鋁箔主要是傳輸信號，母體是固定鋁箔。這種示蹤線(xiàn)缺點(diǎn)：鋁箔強度非常低，即使在生產(chǎn)，運輸過(guò)程中也很容易斷裂，輔設易損傷，同時(shí)鋁箔的電阻非常大，有效探測距離和深度有限。

1. First generation tracer line: It is composed of a matrix of aluminum foil and plastic film, with aluminum foil mainly used for signal transmission and the matrix being fixed aluminum foil. The disadvantage of this tracer line is that the strength of aluminum foil is very low, and even during production and transportation, it is easy to break, and the auxiliary equipment is easily damaged. At the same time, the resistance of aluminum foil is very high, and the effective detection distance and depth are limited.

2.第二代示蹤線(xiàn)：是由鋼絲和塑料薄膜壓制而成，該示蹤線(xiàn)由鋼絲為導體，電阻大，探測距離有限，難以滿(mǎn)足實(shí)際需要。

示蹤線(xiàn)有專(zhuān)用的防護接頭，用于線(xiàn)于線(xiàn)之間的連接，接頭具備防水防腐的密閉腔體，將示蹤線(xiàn)裸露線(xiàn)頭放置于密閉腔體內，從而保護裸露的失蹤線(xiàn)頭無(wú)法被腐蝕，接頭由PE材料制造，本身具備抗腐蝕、抗老化能力。
